Rainbow Caddis Larva

Hook: Wide Gap Scud (TMC 2488, Dai-Riki 135, etc) size 10 to 16
Bead: Silver Tungsten ( 7/64" for #12 hook)
Underbody: Lead Wire (.020" for #12)
Thread: Red Danville 6/0
Rib: Small Red Ultra-Wire
Flashback: Pearl Saltwater Flashabou or equivalent
Body: Rainbow Sow-Scud Dubbing

1. Place the bead on the hook and wrap lead from hook bend to bead.
2. Tie in wire behind lead to the rear of hook bend.
3. Tie in Flashback over wire.
4. Dub from tie in point to bead.
5. Pull Flashback over the top of body and tie in behind bead, clip off excess.
6. Wrap wire in even spiral 4-5 turns over body and tie in behind bead, clip off excess.
7. Wrap a small amount of dubbing to conceal final waps.
8. Whip Finish
9. Pink out dubbing ont the bottom of fly for a "buggy, leggy" look.
10. Apply head cement to knot.

This fly has it all. Easy to tie, durable, and catches fish.

Right On! Stop in at Pop's shop Let It Fly. His flies look much better than they sound. Buy something and support a good guy and a great local resource. His advise is accurate and sincere. Pete

I agree with you totally Pete. Pops really has the only real fly shop I've been to in the Pagosa Springs area. He's one of those guys you feel comfortable with the minute you walk into the shop. He greets his customers and talks with them like old fly fishing buddies. He carries all the good brands like Simms etc... Stop in if you have a chance.

I was up at Kiddie Hole 2/21 (Saturday).

I netted 4 and lost about 5 ( I still have to learn to lift to set the hook), although I was getting plenty of 'hits'

2 of the ones I lost looked to be a good size...but they snapped the 5X tippet before I could get a net on them.

My thanks to the older gentleman for the offer of assistance on the last one I lost. He told me it looked awesome from what he could see and even tho I lost it...He was my witness.

A peach egg pattern attractor with a Zebra midge fishing about 36" +/- from indicator to second fly.

I did try a white leech pattern with no luck.

BTW...I caught a couple on the peach egg pattern. (which had me totally stoked cuz I tied them myself).

Good Luck
